TDK Turkish Dictionary App (Redesign & Branding)
A personal project to rebrand and redesign the outdated TDK Dictionary app, merging my passion for design and education by turning the process into a public YouTube tutorial series.
problem
TDK Turkish Dictionary, one of Turkey's most vital language resources, had an extremely outdated interface. It was difficult for users to search, read definitions, and interact with the content. The app lacked any modern user experience (UX) principles and failed to reflect the potential of its valuable content.
solution
The solution was to design the app from scratch in Figma. First, I established a new brand identity and color palette for the app. Using this identity, I created a clean, accessible, and engaging interface, simplifying the search and browsing experience. To merge design and education, I recorded the entire process as a tutorial series and published it on YouTube.
In my final year, my professor asked for a project that merged my Education degree with my passion for interface design. I chose a non-profit app with a problematic UI — the TDK Dictionary. My goal wasn't just to redesign it, but to teach the process to others.
The existing TDK app was a perfect example of valuable data hidden by a poor interface. I started by creating a new brand identity and color palette to give it a fresh life. My next goal was to apply modern UI/UX principles to this new identity, turning the frustrating search process into an enjoyable experience by redesigning the entire flow.
My second, more important goal was to use my background as an educator. I recorded every decision and step in Figma. I then edited these recordings in Premiere Pro, narrating them as if I were teaching a class, and published the series on YouTube. This turned a personal university project into a public educational resource
